Manchester United launch another bid to land Southampton defender

Shawly not!

Richard Heathcote

With the World Cup having arrived to distract (almost) everyone from transfer rumours for a few weeks, the links between Manchester United and Future Manchester United Defender Luke Shaw had cooled, supposedly allowing another club or two to enter the bidding war.

However, the Independent have reignited speculation Shaw could soon be on his way to Old Trafford with a report that claims the Reds have offered an eye-watering £34 million for the Southampton left-back, having had a £27m bid turned down last month. New United manager Louis van Gaal is apparently "determined" to land Shaw, and has reportedly "told United chief Ed Woodward to offer the teenager £100,000-per-week."

TBB was about to suggest that's an awful lot of money for a teenage defender, and blow the trumpets of a few cheaper alternatives. But if our Supreme Leader van Gaal is swayed, then who are us mere mortals to disagree? Get him signed, Ed.
