Manchester United vs. Valencia: Live coverage and team news

Louis van Gaal bids hello to Old Trafford as his side take on Valencia in the last friendly before the season begins.

So, Louis van Gaal is in Manchester, and he's leading Manchester United out at Old Trafford to take on Valencia. And he's sticking with the 3-5-2 for the occasion.

For his home debut, it's a Rooney-Hernandez strike partnership, with the continued Herrera-Fletcher duo in midfield. Tyler Blackett makes a start at centre-back, Reece James gets another shot at left-back, and Ashley Young is at right-back. Phil Jones and Chris Smaling are the other centre-backs, with Jonny Evans not in the squad.

Pleasingly, Adnan Januzaj is on the bench, so we might get to see where Van Gaal intends to deploy him in the system. It could be anything - forward? Number ten? Left-back? Hopefully tonight will give us an idea.

Manchester United starting lineup: David De Gea; Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Tyler Blackett; Ashley Young, Darren Fletcher, Ander Herrera, Reece James; Juan Mata; Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez.

Subs: Amos, M Keane, Cleverley, Fellaini, Kagawa, Lingard, Januzaj
