Surprise! United starting player injured on international duty

Phil Jones looks like he might be out of the game against Queens Park Rangers and possibly longer as he was withdrawn over what appeared to be a hamstring injury.

Good news and bad news today, fellow Reds. First the good news, which concerns team news ahead of the QPR game: Ander Herrera, and all of our summer signings, are fit and ready for action.

Now, the bad news: Phil Jones is not, because he was crocked while playing for England, as he is accustomed to do. Which means our available centre-back options are likely to consist of Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo, and probably not a whole lot else. There's Tyler Blackett, but it seems a bit much to be relying on him at this stage.

Of course, the theory doing the rounds is that Louis van Gaal might be about to swap to a 4-3-3 anyway, which would allow us to only play two of the players who are in the position in which we are weakest. Which seems like a good idea to us.

Still, we signed Falcao, so who cares?
