In the Guardian, Louis van Gaal has complained that Manchester City have more chance to recover from their Champions League match tonight. He's correct, but as he acknowledges, United should still have enough energy to beat Manchester City. No excuses, then.

Awful news in the Telegraph. Wayne Rooney is planning to play well into his thirties. That's a grim sign for Manchester United, currently hamstrung by his absolutely horrendous form and performances. The sooner he is sold, the better. Better he plays into his thirties for City, to be honest.

In the Mirror, David Moyes backs Rooney to beat the Manchester United scoring record, and he doesn't anticipate it ever being broken. That's nice, David.

Marcos Rojo was out on his ear, destined for a Winter early exit, having got right on Van Gaal's wick. He barely featured in the squad. Then, Luke Shaw broke his leg and it turned out Daley Blind wasn't the answer, nor was Ashley Young. Now, Rojo is great! Van Gaal has pragmatically changed his tune. That's in the Manchester Evening News.
