Manuel Pellegrini has suggested that Wayne Rooney could go on for another five years at Manchester United. That's in the Mirror. Given that he's getting picked despite being totally worthless, there's nothing to suggest that he couldn't keep going after he's dead.
In the Telegraph, though, Jim White wonders just how long Louis van Gaal will be able to indulge him. The Sun had an apparently credible story a week or so ago which suggested he is now on borrowed time. It'll be interesting to see what happens after United play today. You would imagine that the crowd will turn on him eventually, but given the Old Trafford crowd is largely made up by day-trippers who know absolutely nothing about football, there's no guarantee.
Crvena Zvezda have a 19-year-old midfielder called Marko Grujic. He is supposedly very good and wanted by teams across Europe. The Mail says that United are one of those sides, and they sent scouts to watch him score two goals against Rad Beograd.
Andy Mitten has written on ESPNFC about the derby, so you should read it.
For Paste Magazine, I wrote about the differences between Manchester United and City over the summer, where they are planning to go, and how they are planning to do it.
For ITV Football, I wrote about how Manchester City have the better players, but United cannot be ruled out in the game today.
