In the Guardian rumour round-up, they mention a story that is doing the rounds in Spain. Quite why people in Spain would know before those in Chile, London or Manchester, isn't clear. But the rumour is that Manchester United are interested in Alexis Sanchez of Arsenal. He's brilliant, United need brilliant players. Get it done.

In the Telegraph's own round-up, they include a rumour that Manchester United are after Graziano Pelle of Southampton. It's a weird one, and very likely not true. Southampton would have to let him go for a fee that is reduced because of his age - 30 - that wouldn't reflect his importance to the squad. It just doesn't make sense.

And as we gear up for the next transfer window, there's a story in the Mirror that United are certainly trying to improve their squad, and Ayoze Perez of Newcastle United is the player watching.  United have definitely been watching Perez for some time now, so there's a chance that this could come to something. Newcastle operate to sell their players on, so they would listen to offers at any time.

Memphis has acknowledged that he is struggling for form. Which goes somewhat against the constant complaints that he's some cocky fool. He might wear clothes that some people consider daft, and he might make silly mistakes on the pitch, but a) he's young, that's how young people dress now and b) he's young, that's how young people play football. Give him time. That's in the Mail.

And lastly, ESPNFC have a story that Antonio Valencia has had an operation on his foot. Matteo Darmian and Ashley Young are doing a reasonable job in his place.
