Real Madrid have a terrible manager and a worse set of fans. Their president is a complete fool and an egotist, some might think. Anyway, they seem happy to be getting rid of Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer, and there's a chance that Gareth Bale could be sacrificed with the press out to criticise him. It's true neither of them have been up to the standards of last season, but they are managed by Rafael Benitez. The Mirror thinks United could be in for either of them.

Also, according to the Mirror, Manchester United could face competition for Sadio Mane's signature from Chelsea. Jose Mourinho has said last week that he doesn't think it is right that he demands any transfers while his team struggles, but he is not in charge of transfers at the club. Saido Berahino might be a target that is easier removed during the winter, as West Brom have little to play for now that mid-table seems guaranteed.

In the Manchester Evening News there is a story that Louis van Gaal fancies a left-back at United, with a transfer to be made in the winter transfer window.  "Maybe we need to buy a left-back," said Van Gaal on Sunday, after seeing a move to three in the back predictably go badly against Watford.

And, for Yahoo, I wrote about the difference in sensation between the late winners scored under Alex Ferguson and the less familiar feeling about Bastian Schweinsteiger's effort against Watford.
