Louis van Gaal has named his team for Manchester United's clash away at Leicester City on Saturday, and it's ... strange. The absences of Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo have seen Paddy McNair thrust into the starting lineup for the first time in a league match since defeat to West Bromwich Albion last May. Matteo Darmian comes into the team as right-back, with Daley Blind out on the left.
Meanwhile, van Gaal has taken the disappointingly risk-averse move of playing Ashley Young over both Memphis Depay and Andreas Pereira; while unsurprisingly Juan Mata returns in the absence of Jesse Lingard. The most remarkable move, however, comes in midfield, where Michael Carrick has inexplicably been given the nod over Morgan Schneiderlin. Against quite possibly the Premier League's most potent counter-attackers. Strange.
