Manchester United visit Bournemouth on Saturday evening with nine first-team players absent.
Bastian Schweinsteiger will serve the first match of his three-game suspension, after being charged for elbowing Winston Reid in the match against West Ham last weekend.
The match against Wolfsburg on Tuesday saw Matteo Darmian and Chris Smalling added to the injury list. That added two to long-term absentees Luke Shaw and Antonio Valencia, as well as Phil Jones, Ander Herrera, Morgan Schneiderlin (who is doubtful), and Wayne Rooney, who Manchester United say is also injured.
Louis van Gaal will have to decide whether to use Nick Powell, who he now appears to think is a reasonable replacement for Juan Mata, and Ashley Young, who is another player arbitrarily placed on the naughty spot, or United could have a back four of Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Daley Blind, Paddy McNair and Guillermo Varela.
Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini should be chosen as United's incredibly slow midfield.
