Manchester United linked with West Ham's Reece Oxford and Southampton's Sadio Mane

Juventus manager Massimo Allegri has played down rumours linking him with the Manchester United job. The rumours are most interesting because it demonstrates that Louis van Gaal's position is no longer considered so safe as for stories about a replacement being dismissed so readily. This denial is on ESPNFC.

There's confirmation, in the Mirror, that Marcos Rojo could be out of action for weeks. Well, in that case, it looks like we're stuck with this pointless three-at-the-back formation for the foreseeable future.

In the Daily Mail, there's a story - that doesn't seem especially believable or well sourced - that Bayern Munich are going to provide United and Chelsea some competition for Southampton forward Sadio Mane. Can he be worse than Wayne Rooney? We've done that one before.

The Manchester Evening News carries a story in which Bastian Schweinsteiger asks for patience regarding United's miserable, terrible and boring football, and for their miserable, terrible and boring (when it comes to football) manager. Maybe he just doesn't want to be managed by Pep Guardiola again.

And lastly, in the Times, United have been linked with an £8 million move for West Ham's 17-year-old defender/midfielder Reece Oxford, who has intermittently impressed in brief appearances for West Ham's first team. Well, he can't be worse than Wayne Rooney etc etc.
