There's good news on the Manchester United injury front, with Robin van Persie and Phil Jones both available after short injury layoffs. Both players missed United's rather painful win over Preston North End on Monday, though Louis van Gaal has revealed that Michael Carrick is United's only injured player.
Quoted on United's official website, van Gaal said:
"They [Jones and van Persie] are fit to play. Only Carrick is still injured. I think he shall train with the group next week. I expect that, but you never know. You’ll have to wait and see."
Both van Persie and Jones will probably go straight into the United starting lineup. It'll be interesting to see whether van Gaal persists with a strike duo of van Persie and Radamel Falcao, with both having failed to impress when deployed together so far this season. It would be nice to see an experiment with a one-striker formation, though the United boss seems pretty set on playing without wingers for the time being.
