Marouane Fellaini attributes Spurs win to Wayne Rooney's inspirational speech

Marouane Fellaini has lifted the lid on an inspirational Wayne Rooney speech.

Wayne Rooney doesn't come across as a great orator, nor a man with an especially strong love for Manchester United. However, if Marouane Fellaini's comments in light of United's excellent 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur are to go by, the striker is rather more inspirational than we may have thought.

The Manchester Evening News quote Fellaini as saying:

"I think last night the captain talked to the team about next season for the Champions League. I think it affected the team and I think it was an important speech."

It was certainly one of United's best performances of not only the season, but probably the last few years altogether. Spurs were barely given a sniff of David de Gea's goal, while United moved the ball around with pace and purpose. The only question now is whether we'll be able to sustain it for the remainder of the season. Perhaps we should ask Rooney to take to the stage more often ...
