Today's big transfer news is that Manchester United have apparently completed a deal to sign Southampton's young right-back Nathaniel Clyne. So says the Daily Mirror's David McDonnell, who has stuck his neck out on the line by making the declaration on MUTV.

According to the Metro, McDonnell has a pretty good track record of nailing United stories -- and it's rare that a journalist is so up front about a potential transfers unless they have something to go on. However, it's probably best to still wait and see on this one, given that Chelsea have been linked with a move for the 24-year-old too.

Clyne would make a very good signing for United -- he's been impressive in the Premier League for a couple of seasons, he's young, and right-back is one of our weak spots. The bad news is this would mean we'd almost definitely be bidding farewell to dear Rafael, and that's something TBB never wanted to have to do ...
