It appears that nobody's getting their act together before the Champions League is over. For Manchester United that might be because they need one of the Barcelona players, and for Real Madrid's interests, it might be because they're waiting to announce Rafael Benitez before they start signing any players, to make it look like he has some say in what's going on.
The only new Manchester United rumour is about Morgan Scheiderlin. According to a French news organisation part of the Canal+ set-up, United are the team closest to the signing. You can read an exposition on the information here, in the Daily Mirror.
INFO @infosportplus : Morgan #Schneiderlin (milieu #Southampton) tout proche de #ManUnited plutôt que d'#Arsenal.

Mark Ogden wrote this last week on the problems with Manchester United's season and why there is still so far to go. It's largely accurate, and it's up to Louis van Gaal and Ed Woodward to sort it out. That's in The Telegraph.
On ESPNFC, Andy Mitten has written about the retiring Rio Ferdinand. Just thinking, Ferdinand and Vidic, for years on end, and now it's Smalling and Jones. Well done, everyone!
A slow news day, so you can have a look at the awkward potential opponents in the Champions League qualification round: CSKA, Lazio, Monaco and Sporting Lisbon are all sides who could well beat United. The full list is here.
