Manchester United have signed Morgan Schneiderlin from Southampton after weeks of rumours were finally ended with an agreed fee and a medical on Sunday night.
United had bid £20 million for Schneiderlin several weeks ago, a bid which was rejected, and United have now come back with a fee that is acceptable to the south coast club.
It had been rumoured that Manchester United had given up interest in Schneiderlin after agreeing a deal for Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, but it now appears that they have decided to strengthen their midfield yet further as Louis van Gaal continues his overhaul of the squad.
Schneiderlin and Schweinsteiger will join Matteo Darmian, a right-back signed from Torino last week, and Memphis Depay, signed in May from PSV in the Netherlands. There are further transfers expected, including a striker, a central defender and a goalkeeper.
