Victor Valdes, who joined Manchester United halfway through last season, will be sold after refusing to play for the club in a reserve match.
Speaking at a pre-season press conference, Louis van Gaal said:
"It is a big disappointment. We thought that he would follow our philosophy.
"It is a pity because we have given him the opportunity to rehabilitate, gave him a contract and then he is fit to play.
"But if you do not play in the first team, our philosophy is that you play in the second team and he did not do that.
"I only played him at Hull because I wanted to help him show his qualities to another club. I am always a very social human being."
Angel Di Maria was also discussed, with Van Gaal making it clear that Di Maria was by no means certain to stay at United next season. However, according to the Guardian, Van Gaal will look to make Edinson Cavani part of any deal for the Argentine.
