Victor Valdes set for move from Manchester United to Besiktas

Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes, who spent the second half of last season as back-up to David de Gea, looks set to join Besiktas in Turkey.

Valdes would be the third United player to leave for a Turkish club, following Robin van Persie and Luis Nani, who both joined Fenerbahce.

Valdes was excommunicated from the club after Louis van Gaal accused Valdes of refusing to play for the Under-21 side, a claim which Valdes denied on social media.

With David de Gea apparently likely to stay for a final season at United before he joins Real Madrid, there is no room for Valdes in the squad, with Anders Lindegaard still at the club, and Sam Johnstone playing reserve to Sergio Romero, who is currently first choice despite barely playing first team football in the years before joining United on a free transfer this summer.
