The clearout continues. Tyler Blackett has joined Celtic on loan, with an option for the Scottish club to buy him at the end of the season for £3 million. Blackett never convinced, and was only used in emergencies - it's time to get rid of him and give new youngsters the chance should it be necessary. That story is in the Mail.
The Mirror run with a story that Jonny Evans, another left-sided central defender, is likely to leave Manchester United imminently. Aston Villa have agreed a fee with West Bromwich Albion for Joleon Lescott, and West Brom have agreed a fee of £8 million with United for Evans. It's time to get rid, especially with Daley Blind establishing himself as an option in defence, but he nevertheless seemed like a largely decent bloke.
On ESPNFC, they have quotes that Louis van Gaal is not yet convinced by Sergio Romero, and he has more to prove. That's expected. With rumours that Jasper Cillessen will be David de Gea's replacement before the end of the transfer window, you'd not expect Van Gaal to be giving Romero a sense of complacency.
United will play Swansea tomorrow, and we'll have a match preview with team news up soon.
