In the Mirror, there's the news that Manchester United striker will miss the game against PSV having sat out the match against Liverpool with a hamstring strain. Marouane Fellaini offered as much as Rooney had all season i.e. nothing, and Anthony Martial did excellently in his brief debut, so we can pray that Martial is rewarded with a start in midweek.

Louis van Gaal, however, has warned against expecting too much from Martial too soon. That's quite reasonable, but given we expect so little from Fellaini and Rooney on their current form in attack, it's not unfair to think that James Wilson, Jesse Lingard or Martial might be a preferable choice. They can all, after all, run. The Van Gaal warning is in the Guardian.

Rio Ferdinand doesn't think United can win the league this season, and that Manchester City are the team to do it instead. On the current form of both sides, you'd have to agree. City look superb, and United look like they can't handle the pressure of playing away from home. That story is in the Telegraph.

In the Manchester Evening News, some praise for Martial from Ashley Young.

And the rumours of a MLS move for Rooney continues on ESPNFC. Let's do this thing!
