Manchester United play PSV tonight in the Champions League first group match, with Wayne Rooney to miss a second successive game.

Marouane Fellaini is expected to start in his place as he did against Liverpool, but Memphis and Ashley Young are both options. Anthony Martial, who scored on his debut on Saturday, could yet feature if Louis van Gaal believes he can cope with an early introduction to competitive football for United.

Ahead of the match, Van Gaal said:

"I think the fans shall see a Manchester United who fight for their chances and we have to show on the pitch if we are able to win matches on the highest level.

"A draw away is always a good result but I want to win and the first match is very important to win. But it is also for PSV, so you have to wait and see.

"For me it is a difficult place. I didn't win so much here - difficult ground. When I was Barcelona manager I didn't win here. Neither with Ajax I didn't win so much. I won here with AZ Alkmaar."
