Louis van Gaal looks for his first win in eight games as Manchester United manager after overseeing a miserable winter period. Only the fact he didn't lose heavily to Chelsea, instead drawing with another mediocre and toothless performance - especially the second half when they reverted to their special brand of cowardice - has somehow kept him in a job into 2016.
The rumours are spreading that some players believe Diego Simeone is coming to replace him at some point in the relatively near future, and there are other managers like Ryan Giggs and Jose Mourinho who remain ready and willing to take over should they be offered the chance.
United's injury list has eased up, with Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw, Antonio Valencia and Jesse Lingard the current worries. Players may be rested after the rush of games over the festive period, as it must be called.
