With this weekend's game coming on Friday evening, Louis van Gaal's press conference has also had to move back a day. Which means it's today. The Busby Babe would like to take this opportunity to formally deny that we completely forgot about this.
Anyway, there's mixed news on the injury front. Matteo Darmian is definitely out, and Van Gaal is playing coy over the fitness of Phil Jones and Bastian Schweinsteiger. "I cannot say [if they are close]," he, er, said. "Every time I make a remark about injuries it is always difficult because injuries have developments and you have to wait and see."
The better news -- at least, if you're into this sort of thing -- is that Michael Carrick is back from whatever it was that had been ailing him. "It's very good he is coming back," said Van Gaal, though apparently he won't play the full 90 minutes tomorrow night.
