After Rafael Benitez's sacking, a number of rumours last night suggested that Gareth Bale was so unhappy with the decision that he was willing to consider a return to the Premier League. A move to Manchester United would be the likeliest destination, given United's past interest in him.
Manchester United made a higher bid for Gareth Bale when he was at Spurs than Real Madrid, but Bale preferred the option of moving to Spain. Since then, there have been frequent suggestions that he does not intend to see out his career in Spain, and he and his family desire an eventual return to England.
Edward Woodward has been continually linked with a move to Bale, and was even expecting a chance to sign him in the previous summer, when Real Madrid were asking for David de Gea, only for neither transfer to ultimately go through.
The Telegraph has more on the news of Bale's disappointment.
