Timothy Fosu-Mensah broke into the Manchester United first-team last season, making 10 appearances under Louis van Gaal.
The 18-year-old impressed playing at both right-back and left-back, and so far this season he has made another two outings for the senior side -- the most recent of which was a solid display against Zorya Luhansk in the Europa League.
The youngster, who can also play as a central midfielder of centre-back, appears to have established himself ahead of experienced Italian international Matteo Darmian as José Mourinho’s preferred deputy to Antonio Valencia at right-back.
ESPN FC is reporting that, according to their sources, Fosu-Mensah has been rewarded for his good form with a new four-year contract at United, tying him to Old Trafford until 2020.
The Red Devils are keen to get the new contract penned as Fosu-Mensah’s current deal expires next summer.
