David de Gea has been Manchester United’s player of the year for the last three seasons. And although the Red Devils have spent big on glamorous signings such as Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic this summer, the Spanish stopper remains vital to any future success the club hopes to have.
Last night, against Liverpool at Anfield, de Gea made an incredible stop to deny Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian’s 25-yard strike looked destined to nestle into the corner of the net to put the home side ahead, but the United keeper flung himself to his left to tip the ball round the post.
