After defeating Manchester City 1-0 at Old Trafford in the last sixteen of the League Cup, Manchester United have been handed another home tie in the last eight. Though Arsenal, Liverpool and Leeds were all lurking in the draw, United instead drew West Ham United, who just about managed to beat Chelsea 2-1 at the Olympic Stadium.
Incidentally, it appears there was some minor naughtiness in the crowd. Hopefully we can all enjoy some pearl-clutching editorials about those nasty football louts besmirching the legacy of London 2012.
The tie will be played on either November 28 or November 29. It'll probably be the latter, because United are due to play on the afternoon of Sunday November 27 against ... oh, it's West Ham at home. Presumably they can all bunk up with Jose Mourinho at the Lowry. The game immediately afterwards is Everton away. Let's hope United at least make it through to the semi-finals. Two legs under floodlights is always fun.
