When José Mourinho became Manchester United manager ahead of this season, he made it clear that German midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger did not figure in his plans.
The former Bayern Munich man was made to train either alone or with the under-23 squad.
But Sky Sports, among other media outlets, is reporing that Schweinsteiger is once again training with the first-team today.
Schweinsteiger was reportedly never given a reason for his exclusion from the senior squad, and it is not known why he has now been recalled.
It could be that, with United having taken just six points from the last 21 available in the Premier League, Mourinho has decided to recall the 32-year-old to add experience and quality to the Red Devils’ midfield.
It has also been speculated that Schweinsteiger has been brought back into the first-team picture to boost his fitness levels ahead of a potential January transfer away from the club.
The midfielder is not registered to take part in the Europa League, so will not feature against Fenerbahce on Thursday, but could be available for all domestic competitions if required.
