After recent reports linking Angel Gomes with a move to Barcelona, the young star’s father has reiterated the teenager’s commitment to Manchester United.
Gomes has earned rave reviews for his performances for United’s academy and captains England at under-17 level.
He became the youngest player in 15 years to score a hat-trick for the Red Devils’ under-18 side earlier this season, and was part of the Young Lions side that thrashed Germany 8-1 last month.
With Barcelona thought to be preparing to swoop for the 16-year-old, the player’s father, Gil Gomes, spoke to Portuguese newspaper A Bola.
"The important thing is that Angel continues to have all this pleasure in playing football," he said.
"I don't deny that many clubs ask me about him, but that's what he always says ... the next dream is to play for Manchester United's first team, a club where he has been growing."
Gomes is considered one of the most exciting prospects to have developed in the United academy for some time, and there are high hopes within the club that he will eventually become a first-team star.
