Wayne Rooney, who left the England squad early with a "minor knee injury", has today denied reports that he gatecrashed a wedding after England's win over Scotland and, not to put too fine a point on it, got absolutely whammed.
The reports were in the Sun but the denial comes to us via the Mirror. According to a spokesman for Rooney:
Wayne, along with the rest of the England squad, was on a night off duty. Rather than going out, he chose to stay at the team hotel to relax and celebrate a fine England victory against Scotland. During the course of the evening he was approached by numerous fellow guests for autographs and pictures. As he has always been, Wayne was happy to sign, pose for photos and chat with guests. It is sad that one or two of them have now sought to turn Wayne's friendly good nature to their advantage.
And here he is, looking very friendly and extremely good-natured. Incidentally, if the Argentinian airport worker quoted in the lead story is ever in the vicinity of tBB Towers, do let us know. We'd like to shake you firmly by the hand.
