West Ham United defender Reece Oxford looks set to sign a new five-year contract with the Hammers, ending speculation of a move to one of England’s top teams. The 17-year-old had been linked with a transfer to both Manchesters United and City, though instead looks likely to remain at the Olympic Stadium for the foreseeable future. I suppose they’ve got to keep it full somehow.

There's no doubting that Oxford looks like one of England's top young defensive talents at the moment, though after making his first-team breakthrough last season, he's failed to make any league appearances for Slaven Bilić's side so far this season. Perhaps that’s a sign that he’s still a little too raw for regular Premier League football for the time being.

However, he’s certainly one to keep an eye on, and West Ham are sure to be delighted if they really have been able to tie him down for the next few years.
