Will United get the point they need to make it to the knockout stages?

Manchester United need at least a draw against Zorya Luhansk in Ukraine tomorrow in order to qualify for the Europa League knockout rounds.

The Red Devils’ stumbling continental campaign was boosted by an emphatic 4-0 victory over Feyenoord two weeks ago, putting Jose Mourinho’s side in with a strong chance of progressing from Group A as runners-up.

Last time United faced Zorya, they huffed and puffed before eventually scraping a 1-0 win at Old Trafford, thanks to a Zlatan Ibrahimovic header after Wayne Rooney’s fluffed shot fell kindly for the Swede.

The Ukrainian side currently sit third in their domestic league, a full 16 points behind leaders Shakhtar Donetsk after 17 games.

Despite a run of indifferent — that’s putting it kindly — results, United have generally been producing fairly impressive and attractive performances of late, let down only by a proneness to errors in defence and a profligacy in front of goal.

The 20-time champions will be confident of securing the minimum result required tomorrow night and entering their name into the draw for the last-32.

However, there is some doubt over whether the tie will be able to go ahead, with the pitch at the Chornomorets Stadium currently dangerously icy. With temperatures expected to plummet to -9 Celsius overnight, there is a significant chance that the game will have to be postponed.
