Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger hasn't had an especially enjoyable first season in the Premier League, with his fitness having limited him to only 13 Premier League starts so far. He could now be set for yet another injury layoff, having missed training with the German national team after picking up a knee injury.

The Guardian quoted the German FA as saying:

"World Cup winner Schweinsteiger sustained the injury to his right knee on Tuesday afternoon toward the end of the training session. For further examinations the captain will undergo a MRI scan in Munich with national team doctor Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt."

Of course, for the time being we've no news on how long he'll be sidelined; for now, we can only wait and hope. Schweinsteiger was a very exciting signing back in the summer, but injury problems are threatening to end his United career before it ever got going. At least he only cost £6.5 million.
