In the Mirror, there's a story that Manchester United could make a move for their midfield Saul Niguez after he rejected the offer of a new contract from Atletico Madrid. They also say that United are interested in West Ham's central defender Angelo Ogbonna.

The Telegraph, notably now struggling for anything to give people worth reading, include a feature of where United stand in terms of giving local talent a chance. You can read that here, for want of a better offering from the paper.

Some praise for Guillermo Varela in the Manchester Evening News. Varela fits the usual history of United full-backs. Good going forward, horrendous in defence. Varela's not young, so the sooner he learns the offside rule, the better. Still, better him than Valencia.

ESPNFC's transfer jazz says that United are one of the clubs interested in Spanish flop Xisco. Sorry - Spanish flop Isco.
