Wayne Rooney and Marouane Fellaini start for Manchester United at Wembley

Manchester United are in the FA Cup semi-final, and Louis van Gaal is being careful.

Louis van Gaal, with the scent of a cup final wafting temptingly in his nostrils, has managed to pick arguably the least exciting midfield available to him.

There are no huge surprises in defence. Timothy Fosu-Mensah gets the nod over Matteo Darmian at right-back, and will be joined by Marcos Rojo, Chris Smalling and Daley Blind. David de Gea is in goal, and it's still extremely pleasant to be able to write that.

That midfield, then. Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini and Wayne Rooney. What a triumvirate. We're not saying that you should watch something else, but do bear in mind that the snooker will be on the red button. And turning the television off will be on the other red button.

Excitement will have to come from the front three. Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial play wide, and Marcus Rashford will run around willingly up front. Be nice if the kid got a Wembley goal.

On the bench: Sergio Romero, Antonio Valencia, Ander Herrera, Juan Mata, Morgan Schneiderlin, and Memphis Depay. Let's hope neither centre-half gets a knock.
