The long-simmering rumor that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will eventually join Manchester United is about to come to fruition, according to Sky Sports. The signing is expected to be announced prior to the start of Euro 2016, which kicks off on June 10. Although there were no details on the amount of the contract, it is believed to be for only one year.
Signing Ibrahimovic was apparently among the top priorities for new manager Jose Mourinho. Ibrahimovic is expected to be the only significant forward signing of the offseason, though, as Mourinho is keen to give plenty of minutes to Marcus Rashford.
The 18-year-old forward scored five Premier League goals in just 11 appearances last season, adding another goal in the FA Cup final and two more in a Europa League match against Midtjylland.
Ibrahimovic, 34, is coming off his most productive club season to date, having scored 38 Ligue 1 goals for Paris Saint-Germain and five more goals in Champions League play during the 2015-16 season.
