José Mourinho has today been facing the press ahead of tomorrow's pre-season friendly against Borussia Dortmund in China, but the Portuguese tactician has refused to be drawn on the stories strongly linking Paul Pogba with a move to Manchester United.
However, while he was giving nothing away, he wasn't actually giving nothing away; take a look at this quote that comes courtesy of the Mirror, and judge for yourself:
"I don’t confirm and I don’t deny. I cannot tell. First of all because I don’t think its correct to speak about players from other clubs. He’s a Juventus player not a Manchester United player.
“The only thing I can say is that my board, my directors, did a fantastic job to do 75 per cent of the job I asked them to do. I asked them for four profiles of players, I gave them a few options and they did for me 75 per cent of the job and we just have 25 per cent to do before August 31. So we are in a great position to do what I consider will be a great market for us."
Now, to us, that sort of looks like Mourinho saying: 'I can't actually say anything explicit, and you know I can't; but you also know we'd quite like to sign him and Ed Woodward better not cock this up now'. We concur.
