Adnan Januzaj’s promise offered flickering light in the post-Ferguson gloom, though the Belgian international has struggled to demonstrate such talent since the departure of David Moyes. He barely featured under Louis van Gaal, and we still await José Mourinho’s judgement.
However, United’s new boss may simply look to postpone a definitive decision by sending Januzaj out on loan — surprise surprise, the man now looking to lure him from Old Trafford is Moyes himself, recently appointed new Sunderland boss. That’s according to the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope, who reports that “the 21-year-old is available for loan.”
The question of what to do with Januzaj is one we’ve discussed in a previous edition of the Great Red Debate, which can be found here. We reckon a loan deal would be the way forward for all involved, and at Sunderland he’d surely see his fair share of first team football. Moyes, despite having failed in his last couple of jobs, should pretty much guarantee very solid mid-table finishes for the perennial relegation strugglers, and could offer Januzaj a relatively pressure-free environment in which to blossom.
