The Daily Mirror are today reporting some good news: versatile academy star Timothy Fosu-Mensah has penned a new long-term contract at Manchester United.

The 18-year-old impressed in 10 first-team appearances under Louis van Gaal, and has clearly impressed José Mourinho sufficiently to earn a new deal. Though there’s currently no information on how long the contract is, the Mail seem fairly confident that an official announcement will be made over the next few days.

This is clearly good news for a couple of reasons: not only does it mean Mourinho is clearly willing to put some faith in United’s academy products, but also that United aren’t at risk of losing one of their top young talents in the Paul Pogba stylee. Let’s just home the Amsterdam-born midfielder is given some game time this season, and that he doesn’t live to regret pledging his future to the club he joined from Ajax two years ago.
