Paul Pogba’s move from Juventus to Manchester United has moved at glacial pace, but finally it is officially complete. The Frenchman has rejoined the club he left for nothing back in 2013, setting United back a world record transfer fee in excess of €100 million. He has signed a five-year deal at Old Trafford with an option for a further year, and will, of course, slot immediately into José Mourinho’s first-choice team.

Ever since departing United for Juventus a couple of years ago, Pogba has established himself as one of planet Earth’s very best midfielders. The 23-year-old is best when given the freedom to maraud all over the pitch, and at Juventus he not only offered goals from midfield but provided some much-needed defensive support for his more lightweight teammates.
In short, Pogba’s a one man resolution to the midfield problems that have dogged United ever since the days of Sir Alex Ferguson, and there’s very little doubt that, in pure sporting terms, this is one of the best signings United could’ve made.
