Not only do Manchester United have to pick themselves up and dust themselves down in the aftermath of their disappointing defeat to cross-town rivals City on Saturday, but they’ll likely have to do so without one of their most promising defensive talents. Left-back Luke Shaw was substituted in the second half of the encounter at Old Trafford, and now looks set for a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.
The silver lining, according to the Manchester Evening News, is that said spell should be a short one. Though he’ll likely miss the Europa League group stage opener against Feyenoord in Rotterdam on Thursday, there remains the hope that Shaw will be back in time for United’s clash with Watford at Vicarage Road on Sunday.
As it stands, Marcos Rojo looks the favourite to replace Shaw in defence, as one of several change Mourinho is set to make for the European encounter.
