The line-ups have been confirmed for Manchester United’s Europa League tie against Zorya Luhansk tonight, and the headline news is that Red Devils captain Wayne Rooney will once again be confined to the substitutes’ bench.
Rooney was dropped for the visit of Premier League champions Leicester City at the weekend — United’s superb performance and 4-1 victory in that game has likely contributed heavily to his further exclusion from the line-up.
Usual first-choice goalkeeper David de Gea has been rested with Argentinian international Sergio Romero taking his place agianst the Ukrainian side, with Timothy-Fosu Mensah, Marcos Rojo and Marouane Fellaini also starting.
But as promised in his pre-match press conference, José Mourinho has picked a largely full-strength team featuring Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcus Rashford. Juan Mata also retains his place after a stellar display against Leicester.
