Manchester United manager José Mourinho has pulled no punches in his team selection for the Reds’ EFL Cup semifinal first leg against Hull City.
United have made seven changes from the heavily rotated side that saw off Reading in the FA Cup on the weekend, with several first team regulars returning to the starting lineup. Among them are David de Gea, Antonio Valencia, Ander Perrera, Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, though Zlatan Ibrahimović is ill, and Marcus Rashford keeps his place up top. Michael Carrick, Daley Blind, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial are all made to settle for places on the bench.

There are no real surprises in Hull City’s starting lineup. Their new manager Marco Silva — in only his second game in charge — has made just two changes to the team that beat Swansea City on the weekend, with Michael Dawson and Jake Livermore making way for Harry Maguire and Josh Tymon:
