Extremely surprising news, everybody! Morgan Schneiderlin has joined Everton! Who saw that coming?
The French international midfielder has moved for an initial £20m, which will rise to £24m. We assume that the extra money is dependent on various conditions being fulfilled, but we have no idea what they are, obviously. That's just what it says here.
It's always a shame to see a player leave without having seen their best, but at the same time, Schneiderlin never seemed to make a solid case that he deserved a starting place ahead of the rest of the squad. The improvement of Ander Herrera and the resurgence of Michael Carrick has limited his options this season, and he's decided that as a footballer, he should probably head somewhere he can play football. Which seems fair enough.
He leaves United having made 47 appearances and scored just the one goal. That came against Everton, which probably counts as ironic in the world of football. Best of luck to him. If the quality of Everton's announcement photoshops are anything to go by, he'll need it. Look at the state of this:
