Manchester United extend Antonio Valencia's contract to 2018

The league's best right-back that might not be a right-back but probably is a right-back is sticking around for another year.

Here at tBB, we like Antonio Valencia.

We like him because he's hard as nails, because he's pretty good at football, and because it never seems to occur to him to stop running. We like him because he's been moved from winger to full-back and, while he might not have liked it, he's just got on with it, kept running, and worked to be better. And we really like that the fact that, this season, he's been a really good full-back.

As such, we very much like the news that Manchester United have extended his contract, and he's going to stick around for another season.

Now 31, Valencia has made 271 appearances for United over the last seven and a bit seasons, and has established himself as one of the first names on the teamsheet under Jose Mourinho. Given that he's in decent shape, we can probably assume that the right-back spot is his until then if he wants it.

And then? TIMOTHY FOSU-MENSAH, COME ON DOWN.
