Hull City will need to pull off a huge upset if they’re to overturn their 2-0 deficit at home to Manchester United in the second leg of their EFL Cup semifinal at the KCOM Stadium on Thursday. A routine victory at Old Trafford has put José Mourinho's men into a commanding position, and they just need to finish the job off on Humberside.
The hosts’ chances aren’t helped by their gigantic injury list, compounded by the serious head injury sustained by midfielder Ryan Mason in their encounter with Chelsea. Marco Silva will also be without several other familiar faces, including Robert Snodgrass and Curtis Davies; Ahmed Elmohamady and Diumerci Mbokani are both away at the Africa Cup of Nations.
United’s only absentee is Eric Bailly, who is also away on international duty. The Ivory Coast have already been eliminated after a disastrous AFCON campaign, but Bailly won’t be back in time to feature here. Mourinho should otherwise have a full strength team available.
