Mourinho fields strong team in Hull EFL Cup clash

The United boss is taking no risks.

Manchester United may be 2-0 up on aggregate in their EFL Cup semifinal with Hull City, but manager José Mourinho is taking no risks. He’s named a very strong lineup for the second leg away at the KCOM Stadium, with big hitters Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimović both among the included. Ander Herrera is given the nod alongside Michael Carrick in midfield, and will make his 100th United appearance as a result. How time flies.

Juan Mata and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are both made to settle for places on the bench, while Wayne Rooney isn’t rewarded with a start after becoming United’s all-time top goalscorer last weekend. Instead, Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford form a United-born-and-bred wing duo.
