Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba could be fit to return in October

Pogba’s injury could be less severe than first thought.

The Daily Mail wonder if Anthony Martial will ever win Jose Mourinho over. Given the praise and increased game time that Martial has received, the improved performances, the goals, assists and general uplift, it’s fair to suggest the answer is that he has already won him over. However, as Juan Mata showed at Chelsea, you don’t necessarily have to just be good to make Mourinho keep you at his club.

United have been linked with a swap deal for Martial, and Barcelona are supposedly the club who want him. The swap would involve Ivan Rakitic. Given Rakitic isn’t exactly that good and is 29, in a position that United now have decent cover in, it’s hard to believe. There’s also something unpleasant about having Barcelona players come to United, given their tedious moral grandstanding about everything. No thanks!

Gary Neville has said that the game against Liverpool is exactly the kind of game that Romelu Lukaku now has to decide with his performances. He always struggled against United - even against Daley Blind in central defence - and so there may be an element of novelty in seeing him being expected to dominate against clubs that he might previously have struggled against.

Woot woot! Paul Pogba could be back before the end of October. United need Pogba back, not just because he can be brilliant, but because the rest of the midfield appear to be dropping like flies, which have been pushed over by a serial bully. A win against Liverpool would really take the edge of the coming fixture business, so let’s hope we batter them by 70 or 80 goals to aid the goal difference.

And Arsene Wenger has suggested that two potential United targets, Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, could both be sold in the upcoming winter transfer window.
