Jose Mourinho was effed off with the performance from United’s players against Huddersfield, and it was Ander Herrera who admitted that Manchester United players hadn’t matched Huddersfield Town for application and hard work in the first half an hour. The Mirror has a look at that, and three other areas that United failed at in order to suffer their first defeat of the season. United play Swansea in a few days and will need to radically improve their performance if they are to get anything from that game, and the Spurs one at the weekend.

Memphis Depay scored a hat-trick at the weekend, and is posing with the match ball in this photo here. Depay has a buyback clause, and could conceivably come back to United if he improves a lot. He would have to improve his shooting, passing, control, decision making and defensive aptitude, and his heading would probably need some work too. But apart from that, a return looks inevitable.

Carlos Soler, according to the most recent United We Stand fanzine, is on his way to Old Trafford in the summer. There are more circumspect rumours elsewhere, with a £30m move from Valencia being rumoured in other papers, like The Guardian.

Mauricio Pochettino has said that the rumours of a move to United for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Eric Dier were disruptive, but there you go. DIer would have been a handy addition to a side that still has Phil effing Jones and Chris effing Smalling in their central defence. I mean, FFS.

And lastly, Manchester United are one of two sides interested in Real Madrid’s Casemiro. Given Casemiro is at the world’s biggest club, and has a contract until 2021, you would have to deduce that he will either move because of money (and fair enough), or he wants a big new contract and is starting the dance with these rumour,
