The Mirror report that Luke Shaw crashed into Phil Jones’ car with his big old car. Because it is international week, we are stuck with utter turd in the news. Jones is back because he was injured while on international duty, though it is not expected to be too serious an injury. Shaw is with the United squad that aren’t on international duty, because Ashley Young is a better option for both United and England. Both are expected to be out for 18 months after suffering minor footballers’ whiplash.
Having said that, Jones thinks that he should be able to play at the weekend, which makes it final: out for three years, retired at 30. One day, United will have a defender who can stand up and run for a whole season.
Real Madrid contract hoo-ha continues. Gareth Bale is apparently up for sale as Real want to raise some cash to bring in Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain. That would at least solve their problems on the wing, because Bale is permanently crocked. Ideally United will have signed Antoine Griezmann by then.
Paul Pogba is returning to full fitness and a comeback might not be imminent - he’s unlikely to face Newcastle - but he may be back in time for the game against Manchester City at least. Pogba has had two disappointing seasons at United since his transfer from Juventus, and time is running out on convincing him to stay if he and United don’t pull their fingers out on the pitch.
With rumours of Zlatan Ibrahimovic returning to the Swedish international team in time for the Russia World Cup next year, Romelu Lukau has praised his teammate and suggested that when he is fit to play for United again, the team will benefit. They are definitely need of freshening up across the pitch.
