Chelsea may be missing N’Golo Kante for the match against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge this weekend. Kante was injured a few weeks back, and they will have Nemanja Matic back to face them in a United shirt. Matic says he has nothing to prove to Chelsea fans, and given he won two leagues in three seasons with them, and has been missed by his old side as they go through some injury bother and the demands of Champions League football.
Glazer collaborators the Manchester United Supporters Trust have asked to meet Jose Mourinho to discuss his concerns over the lack of atmosphere at Old Trafford. This isn’t a difficult one. Young, local fans have been priced out of attending regularly, standing up has been banned, the fans who remain are either aged or tourists out for a day trip. There’s nothing inherently wrong in those fans making up much of the crowd, and it helps United’s finances, but it has swayed the atmosphere to be one that fails to support the team. Mourinho might help himself by producing more entertaining football, but that is a minor factor at play now.
United gave striker Marcus Rashford a birthday cake after his impressive performance against Benfica, because now clubs have to celebrate their players going through the process of ageing. Thanks, Yaya!
They are also preparing for Mourinho’s trip to Spain over a tax fraud allegation. Of course, he is innocent until proven guilty, and I think we can all agree that the problems definitely rest with evil, conniving accountants and certainly not our dear leader.
And for those who love the vice of the dice, there is an article on some of the weekend’s odds, including how likely Mourinho is to park the bus against Chelsea this weekend. Have a lovely day.
